Manifold Insulator

At $130 plus $15 express postage I didn't think it was much of a risk as I was up for a change of spark plugs any how and the local dealer quoted me $74 for a new plenum chamber gasket (Rip off or what)...
So for the difference ($76) I had a chance to improve performance and in particularly torque.

The result was very satisfactory, as last weekend I had to move my son from Woolongong to Singleton which included 3 large adults, the back seat stacked to the roof behind the driver's seat, the boot chock a block full and a 7X4 feet box trailer wich among being stacked approximately 2.5 feet high with his goods and chattels I packed in a VT250 motorcycle and 2 X 26" bicycles for good measure (What a load).

The car a 2004 VZ Commodore had no trouble pulling up Mt Ouslie out of woolongong at approx 80 Klm per hour on a stinking hot day. The vehicle returned fuel consumtion by the onboard computer of around 11.4 litres per 100 Klm's, in my book an excellent result with that load.

Mace manifold insulator

Hey all. Just thought I'd say I have a set going into the Acclaim tomorrow...
Basically we have the JCCCNSW skidpan day happening next Monday, so I'm having some work done to the 175 Alloytec for betteer ooooomph

One of these workings was to replace spark plugs (I think their 150 000 kays old) so I buckled and decided why not install one of these insulation kits while I have the manifold off.

Steve was more then helpful with my enquiry and order, nice good bloke to deal with actually. The insulators were sent extremely well packed and in an express post bag, excellent service, I wish our warehouse guys could pack fragile parts the same way as MACE!

I'll post up some photos as we do the work, esentially the install guide shoes everything anyway but I'll chuck some up as we always photograph our work when we play with our cars!

I wont really be able to comment whether they "work or not" as we're modifying the air intake and also running a custom tune on the engine and transmission in one hit, so esentially everything will work together to make the car perform better, but I wouldnt have paid for something I wasnt convinced would work, especially when the money could have gone to something else for the day.

So thanks Steve and MACE for getting me this far, looking forward to reporting about our install. It might only be little but its one of the "major" mechanical changes I'll be making on this car so to me its a big deal!!!

Mace Products

I have a VS V6 Commodore Ute, and i live in Charters Towers North QLD and over the last 12 months I have purchased the following from MACE:...
* Stage 2 Cam and Chip Package
* Custom 1.75:1 Rockers
* Heavy Duty Valve Springs
* Valve Stem Seals
* Retainers and Collets
And I am going to be purchasing the following in the next couple months
* 25mm Cold Air Manifold Insulator
*12mm Plenum Spacer
As you can see I have been a repeat customer of Mace Engineering Group in the past 12 months due to the level of service I have received from Steve and the quality of the products I have purchased, and in a nice delivery time-frame also. Steve is always available to have chat to on the phone when I need advice on what would be the best modifications to improve the performance of my ute.
Recently I got Runner Up in the Charters Towers 2010 Burnout Comp - (my first legal Burnout Comp) and I would like to thank Mace for his support. There are videos of my ute at the drags and burnout comp on Youtube if you would like to see it in action - search Jace Garnham.
Anyone who is modifying their Commodore - I highly recommend Mace from performance products.
Cheers,

Thanks to Mace

Thanks to mace I’ve been modifying my VS Berlina Ecotec easily and cost effectively since the start of 2010. Every modification has taken less than an hour to complete and with very little tools...

Everyone who has been in my car has noticed the huge increase of low end power. I compared my modified VS Ecotec against a stock VS Ecotec and the results of my increase in torque were easy to see.

Modifications from Mace:

  • Cold Air Intake
  • 69mm Throttle Body
  • 25mm Plenum Spacer
  • 12mm Manifold Insulator

Other Modifications

  • 2 ½ Pacemaker Extractors
  • 100mm Intake pipe

Saving up for:

  • 85mm Airflow Meter
  • Performance Chip
  • Stage 2 Comp Cam
Finished off by a tune

I strongly recommend Mace Engineering to anyone wanting to modify their car.

Manifold Insulator & CAI

I recently fitted manifold insulators and cold air intake system from Mace. I found the presales service to be excellent, and the product was as expected...
I have been pleasantly surprised with the benefits of the upgrades, my VZ SV6 now has a much nicer tone with the catback exhaust. The note difference was worth every penny, but the performance change was outstanding. With no run in period or remap the low end gain was huge, with a mild rwkw increase.
My expectations are an approx 5rwkw increase at max revs. Since installing the Mace products my 1st gear has had significant increase in power, and now changes smoother. Anyone driving the 6sp manual knows how lumpy the box is. I would recommend these mods to any manual driver, you will feel the difference immediately. Currently getting 11-11.5L/100km (computer) on round town driving.

12mm Plenum Spacer

Hey, I would like to thank MACE engineering for the great 12mm plenum spacer on the Ecotec V6!..
I am happy with the way it has improved the torque and power of the car, it is notable. I plan to buy more MACE products in the near future!

Plenum Spacer

Definitely a worthwhile investment. I can definitely feel the ease in acceleration now...
Also, my l/100k dropped from 10.2 to 9.3 on highway. And that was giving it a bit still lol...
Top product mate!

CAI & Rockers

Less than $900 for a cold air intake and some roller rockers, little to no practical experience with car modding, and my VY’s been totally transformed...

Power delivery is super smooth and economy is up, even under my yob-driving. I barely have to tap the accelerator to get the same performance I was getting before when I floored it. The car now rages through the midrange and top end, even the engine note sounds way tougher. Support is great too, Steve called me back within 5 minutes even when he was on lunch. The only thing I dislike about these mods is they were so easy and cheap, why the hell didn’t Holden make the car like this in the first place?

If you have a Commodore and you want performance bolt-ons, you really need to look at Mace. Even some of my mates who aren’t into cars are interested now because of these mods.
